Thus, there are many programs and policies for the prevention of traffic accidents as strategies to reduce speed and alcohol consumption, promoting the use of helmets and seat belts and increase the visibility of pedestrians and cyclists. Likewise, Colombia, in some cities and regions already is starting to see the results of the policies and campaigns which have been implemented. All this campaigns and polices with the purpose of decrease the levels of traffic accidents and the terrifying impact on health and the social and economic costs of injuries caused by traffic accidents in the country.

On the other hand, many researches have important evidence on the issue of injury, its risk factors and ways to prevent deaths caused by motor vehicles. They argument that the increased of motor vehicle accidents is related with the use of alcohol. Moreover, prevention strategies need to be assigning to the specific situation of countries.
